Sisterly love

My sweet sweet sisters (10 & 14 yr) sent me a whole bunch of braided hand bands hand made by them. They are lil entrepeneurs, selling them to fund a trip to visit their big sisters!

What to do in Sacramento during Memorial Day?

My husband and I decided to spend the day that honors the fallen in battle around downtown Sacramento. I had a chance to take a look at the names of the many soldiers that died during battle - most of them under 25 years old-. Freedom is not free and these guys were brave men to fight for it.
We visited the Capitol and it's gorgeous garden, here are some shots of it. Needless to say it was a super hot day, as usual in sac town.

My free and useful ring holder / Mi barato pero certero organizador de anillos

DIY jewerly holder
~I am on Organizing Mode so I have been figuring out ideas to organize my jewelry and belts etc.
Today I made this DIY ring holder(or DIY jewerly holder) It is made on a ) (zero) nada, nothing budget. I just revamped things I found around my home.  Check out the pics and the little explanation of how I constructed it.
I have a few expensive rings -wedding band, engagement ring, and honeymoon ring- but the rest are the so called 'costume' rings, they are so  fun and cheap, they are not worthy of a jewelry box. Hence this is the perfect display to place inside my drawer~
`Hola! Estoy pasando por una etapa de organización, empezando por mi billou (en este caso mis anillos baratos). Con lo que encontré en mi casa me arme un display/organizador de anillitos. Espero que les guste. Me costo $0. :) ~

.

1) I found these green sponges for flower arrangements, I could have use Styrofoam as well but I did not have any (not that I know of). I just punched in holes with a ring and then I arranged all the rings as I wanted them to look when the ring holder is finished.

..
2) Set the ring in the way I liked them, and made sure to have a napkin to wipe out the green stuff or dust.

3) I used a piece of material that I had. I eyeball the size of the material and cut it roughly.

.

4) I pressed in the material before sewing it so the ring would fit tight.

.
5) I passed the thread and needle all around the edges and then introduced the green foam block inside. You can use a thread of the similar color to the fabric, here I used black so it shows in the picture. Please sewers do not judge my work with a sharp eye, I made this in 5 minutes.

Finished Project!

I can see all my rings at once, and decide which one to wear...:)
.

I hope you like it!
Espero que os guste!

Andrea

A new shoe organizer

De-cluttering and Organizing

Hello! As I said I am looking forward to winter  break re-organizatoin.
I found some inspiration in these images, I hope it inspires  you too!

Hola! Estoy de vuelta bloggeando, despues de un largo semestre en college! Durante estas semanas de vacaciones de invierno me decidi a re-organizar my hogar, me he inspirado en algunas de estas imagines, espero que os guste!

~Some crownmolding as a heels holder, definetely something great if you have little space like me, I might try to do this in the new laundry room~

~This is a bottle rack and I think it looks great as an extra towel holder, now i just need to find a wine bottle rack now~

Definetly trying this in my new laundry room, better than throw them under the sink!~

~ This is actually how my books lay on the floor, who needs a shelf?~

~I feel in love with this tiny and practical book holder, I believe is some kind of  a wheel , just figure it our how to make it~

I love to find practical ways to use almost anything and turn it into something useful for your home.
I'll back with my own projects.

Love ,

Andrea

Winter Break!!

Hello Y'all!
I am back blogging after a semester break. I have been working in my garden all this time, but I did not have time to post anything since I am studying! I am taking more units than a full time student and with my garden, home and hubby I have no spare time for my blog!

For starters I wanted to say a big

Merry Christmas!!!

and share one of the things that caught my attention this week:
I am looking for new ways to organize and declutter my home, but I also wanted to do some craft decor....

So my philosophy for the decor and decluttering is
